Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Premedis - the app, the learning method and the subscription.

About the app

What is Premedis? expand_more

Premedis is a mobile app for students preparing for medical school entrance exams. Instead of passively re-reading textbooks, you answer questions like on the real exam. While most people are used to learning topic-by-topic, our advanced algorithm maximizes efficiency by focusing on your actual weaknesses, skipping what you already know and focusing on questions that you struggle with. This way, the material actually stays in your long-term memory.

How is Premedis different from practice question books? expand_more

Books are passive. Premedis is an active coach. The app helps you prepare gradually using spaced repetition, and it keeps track of what you already know so you don't waste time on it. It also makes studying enjoyable enough that you actually keep going.

How is Premedis different from prep courses? expand_more

Prep courses are expensive, one-off and largely passive. Premedis is available whenever you have a free minute, costs a fraction of the price and uses active learning driven by a personalised algorithm. Most successful applicants combine both approaches.

How is Premedis different from Anki? expand_more

Anki is a general-purpose spaced repetition tool that you have to fill with your own cards first. Premedis makes prep incredibly easy: thousands of ready-made questions written for medical school entrance exams, each with an explanation. Nothing to set up - you just start learning.

Who writes the questions? expand_more

The questions are written and continuously improved by medical students who passed the entrance exams themselves. They know exactly what matters and which traps show up on the real test.

Does the app work offline? expand_more

Not yet, but we're working on it.

The learning method

What is spaced repetition and why does it work better than ordinary studying? expand_more

Spaced repetition is a scientifically validated method built on the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve. Instead of reviewing material at fixed intervals, the algorithm works out the exact moment a piece of information is about to slip out of your memory - and shows it to you right then. The result is more retention for far less time spent.

What is active recall and how does it help me on the exam? expand_more

Active recall is a technique where your brain actively retrieves information instead of just passively reading it. Every question in Premedis forces you to recall - and that strengthens neural connections far more than endless re-reading. Studies show this way of learning can be up to 52 % more effective than conventional studying. Source study.

How many minutes a day do I need for effective preparation? expand_more

Even 15–20 minutes a day (on the bus, for example) is enough for the algorithm to do its job. Premedis is designed for micro-learning - short, regular sessions beat occasional multi-hour blocks.

When should I start preparing for medical school entrance exams? expand_more

We recommend starting 6-12 months before the exam. The spaced repetition algorithm in Premedis is built for long-term preparation - the earlier you start, the more effectively it works.

Can I track my progress? expand_more

Yes. Premedis shows you how much of the material you have mastered, which topics are your weak spots and how consistent your studying has been, so you always know where you stand.
